We are dedicated to using the most current, science-backed and reward-based training techniques. We are committed to force free, fear free, and pain free learning. At Paws -N- Learn Academy, our goal is to help canines and their human companions understand each other better and communicate more effectively with one another. We aim to provide practical solutions to the most common challenges that pet guardians face.
Tomi DiCapua
Owner/Trainer
Tomi DiCapua is a certified, professional dog trainer and behavior consultant. She earned her CTC from Jean Donaldson’s Academy for Dog Trainers. The Academy is considered the “Harvard of dog training schools.” It is a rigorous 2 year program that “offers a comprehensive education in all aspects of dog training, dog behavior, behavior modification….” The Academy is the “ standard for dog training excellence worldwide.” In addition, she obtained a diploma in Animal Behavior (Dip.ABST) from the Companion Animal Science Institute. This intensive program gives graduates “ a thorough and in-depth knowledge and set of skills in behavior and a strategy for applying science-based procedures to change behavior….” Tomi has been working in the animal welfare industry for 18+ years. The last 10 years have been dedicated to animal behavior, specifically dog training and behavior consulting. She has spent 7 years working at an animal shelter which has given her extensive, valuable experience with dogs of all breeds, ages, sizes, and temperaments. Tomi is a proud member of the Pet Professional Guild ( the Association for Science-based, Results-based Force Free professionals ). She is a strong proponent of continuing education and strives to keep current on the best practices in her field. She is adamantly committed to training with positive reinforcement. She adores animals of all kinds and currently shares her home with her 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a bird. Tomi also holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Georgian Court University.
